Make batteries stable and cheaper: Article in Austrian Rundschau

Linz research team makes batteries for electric cars more stable and cheaper

One of the biggest challenges facing batteries and battery packs is the predictability of their life span. Even one defective battery cell in a battery pack can result in the pack to be unusable. Previous tests were in general time-consuming and complicated. The NanoBat project will, in the future, enable individual cells to be tested accurately for electrochemical properties. In this way, potentially weak cells can be identified and excluded. Keysight Technologies is cooperating with an international team of Johannes Kepler University in the NanoBat project. The results of their work are expected to make batteries more stable and cheaper in the future.
